Procedure
In a deep skillet or stock pot melt butter on medium heat,
add onions, scallions, and garlic, and saute until they have a nice dark caramel color and a few crispy edges.
Add fresh green beans and mix well with onions and garlic and allow them to get a little sear on them (not burnt).
Once the green beans are seared pour in veggie broth and liquid smoke.
Season to taste ( I use garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, paprika, and parsley Italian seasoning).
Let beans simmer until the majority of the broth has cooked down (about 20 mins) or until beans are bright green; add a tsp of the slivered almonds and mix in to be cooked soft.
Place beans in a serving dish and sprinkle the remainder of the almonds on top as garnish.
